Does my company need AI literacy training?
If people in your company use AI systems for work, your company is very likely a deployer under the AI Act and must take measures to support their AI literacy. Training is the most common measure, but the law does not require a specific course.
A quick test
If any answer is yes, Article 4 is relevant to you.
- Do employees use ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Claude or similar tools for work tasks?
- Does your software include AI features that staff use, such as automatic summaries or suggestions?
- Do contractors or freelancers use AI systems on your behalf?
What proportionate looks like for a small team
- Decide which AI tools are allowed and for what.
- Give everyone a short, practical training.
- Write down the rules on personal and confidential data.
- Keep a simple record of who was trained and when.
When general training is not enough
If AI is used for decisions about people — such as screening applicants or assessing creditworthiness — those uses can be high-risk under Annex III of the AI Act, with additional obligations.
